ABA International provides early intervention and behavior modification services to families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders.
ABA International combines a variety of effective approaches to provide a comprehensive treatment program. Although the principles of applied behavior analysis are the foundation of every program, our delivery format varies depending on a child's age, interests and capabilities. An autistic child is as unique as a snowflake. Our programs reflect and respect your child's individual qualities and distinctive characteristics. Our goal is to help each child reach their potential by capitalizing on their strengths and building on their weaknesses. Our programs include a combination of discrete trial teaching, pivotal response treatment (PRT) and proactive programming.

Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT) allows a child to repeatedly practice skills they are in the process of learning. Discrete trials increase the likelihood of proper neural function and allow the child to learn in a low distracter environment. Discrete trials break a task down into smaller, more manageable learning opportunities which increase in complexity as the child's ability increases.

Pivotal response treatment (PRT) is an approach that emerged from the natural language paradigm, which approximates the manner in which typically developing children acquire language. PRT is based on the principles that a child who is interested in their environment is more likely to learn. PRT is a child led approach in which the learning environment is manipulated to increase the child's interest and therefore, their potential to learn.

| Proactive programming is a treatment approach that teaches a child what to do through positive reinforcement, as opposed to teaching a child what not to do through aversive methods such as punishment. The principle supporting this approach is that for every excessive behavior there is a corresponding deficit behavior and vice-versa. Proactive programming teaches appropriate alternative behaviors and can be implemented to increase desired behaviors as well as decrease undesired behaviors.

Our Family Based Skills Approach: ABA International is equally committed to teaching the parents of ASD children. Parents are encouraged to learn the principles and rationales supporting our program approaches and are given the necessary tools to effectively parent their ASD children. Our goal is to change a parent's perspective from that of overcoming the obstacles of learning and behavioral challenges to that of adapting to unique learning and behavioral opportunities.
